Making lavender soap

Lavendelzeep

For this soap, you need 75 g of soap base, 3 teaspoons of distilled water, 3 teaspoons of almond oil, 4 teaspoons of dried lavender flowers and possibly a couple of drops of lavender essential oil. You will also need a mould to pour the soap into. Or you can make a big sheet of soap in a baking tray and cut it up later.

1. Grate the soap base finely. Add the soap and distilled water to a bowl and melt it in the microwave.

2. Stir the soap well. Add the almond oil and stir again. Then add the lavender flowers and lavender oil if you are using it. Stir well once more, then pour the mixture into the mould, or into a baking tray lined with baking parchment. I had made enough to do both.

3. You need to make sure there is no air in the soap, so tap the mould or baking tray gently to bring any air bubbles to the surface.

4. Remove the soaps from the mould or baking tray after six hours. Cut them into pieces carefully using a sharp knife.

*Note: Making the soap is at your own risk.
