Apple cake in a mug

Herfstige appeltaart


– 4 apples
– 2 tbsp butter
– 1 tsp ground cinnamon
– 100 g self-raising flour
– 50 g sugar
– ½ tsp baking powder
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– dash of fruit syrup
– 1 egg
– 50 ml milk
– 3 tbsp olive oil


1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

2. Peel the apples, remove the cores and chop them into small pieces. Fry the apple pieces with the butter, sugar and half of the cinnamon in a pan. Add the fruit syrup and simmer for five minutes. Then allow the mixture to cool.

3. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Add the egg, the milk and the oil then stir well until a batter begins to form. Now add in the apples. Pour the batter into the mugs and sprinkle a little sugar over the top. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.

4. Sprinkle some extra cinnamon powder over each cake before serving and decorate with a couple of slices of apple.
