From Tree to Board Game

Rob and I occasionally play “Ludo” in the garden. I made the game myself out of a tree stump and small stones just for that purpose. You can play it with four people. The goal is to be the first to move all your pieces around the board and get all four of them into the home base.

Here’s what you’ll need:
– a tree stump slice
– 12 small stones
– acrylic paint
– acrylic marker
– paintbrushes
And you’ll need a die to actually play the game.

Step 1

Paint all the steps on the disc with white paint. This includes the little streets that you’ll be coloring in later.

Step 2

Color in all the streets and starting points. The white background helps the color show up better.

Step 3

Outline all the circles with a black acrylic marker. Draw a small arrow at each starting point.

Step 4

Decorate the plate with a pretty border featuring flowers or animals.

Step 5

Paint four by four stones in four different colors so that everyone knows which stone belongs to whom.

If you want to leave this game outside on the garden table, paint it one or two more times. Then apply a coat of clear wood varnish. That way, it’ll be able to withstand rain and cold.
