I love making something beautiful to put under the tree in the run-up to Christmas. These cheerful crocheted Christmas ornaments are perfect for that: using different colors of cotton, you can create a playful pattern that looks instantly festive among the Christmas lights. In this blog post, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to crochet and stuff the Christmas ornaments so you can then give them a nice spot on the Christmas tree.

TO CROCHET
Crochet two balls, alternating colours, as you did with the pink-and-yellow balls. Using your first colour, make a magic loop.
Rnd 1: Ch3 (count as 1st dc), make 11dc into loop, sl st to top of beg ch3 to join. Pull magic loop tight to close. Fasten off
(= 12 dc). Rnd 2: Using next colour, join into any st from rnd 1, ch2 (count as 1st hdc), 1 hdc into same st, 2hdc into each st around, sl st to top of beg ch2 to join. Fasten off (= 24 hdc). Rnd 3: Using next colour, join into sp next to a set of 2 hdc from rnd 2, ch3 (count as 1st dc), 1dc into same sp, miss next 2 hdc sts, *2dc into next sp, miss 2 hdc sts; rep from * around, sl st to top of beg ch3 to join. Fasten off (= 24 dc). Rnd 4: Using next colour, join into top of a first dc from any 2 dc in rnd 3, ch1,
1sc into same st, 1sc into next st, 1 spike stitch (see special stitches) inserting your hook in-between 2 hdc set from rnd 2, *1sc into next 2 sts, 1 spike stitch; rep from * 10 more times, sl st to first sc to join. Fasten off (= 24 sc, 12 spike sts).
Rnd 5: Using next colour, join into any st, ch2, 1 hdc into each st around, sl st to first sc to join. Fasten off (= 36 sts).
Weave in all yarn ends. Once you are done, sew together with the right sides facing out, and remember to leave an opening for your stuffing. Stuff and sew closed. Make a loop at the top to hang your bauble.
Have fun!
Love, Daphne
