Cheerful Halloween Lanterns

With an empty glass jar, some orange crepe paper, and glue, you can make these cozy Halloween lanterns. Give them a funny or spooky face and place an LED tea light inside. That’s how you bring a little Halloween spirit into your home!

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Empty glass jars
  • Orange crepe paper
  • Craft glue (that dries clear)
  • Paintbrush
  • Black paper
  • Scissors
  • String or ribbon
  • LED tea lights

Here’s how to make them

1. Prepare the jar. Clean the glass jar thoroughly and dry it. Cut the orange crepe paper into pieces large enough to cover the jar.

2. Cover the jar. Use a paintbrush to apply a thin layer of glue to the outside of the glass. Carefully place the crepe paper over it and smooth it out. Let the pieces overlap slightly so the entire jar turns a nice orange color.

3. Let it dry. If needed, apply another thin layer of glue over the paper and let everything dry thoroughly.

4. Make a face. Cut out two eyes and a funny or spooky mouth from black paper. Glue them onto the jar. Make different faces so that each lantern has its own personality.

5. Decorate the top. Wrap a piece of string or a cheerful ribbon around the neck of the jar and tie it into a bow.

6. Let your lantern shine. Place an LED tea light inside the jar and enjoy the warm, cozy glow!

Note: Never use real candles. Crepe paper is flammable, so always opt for an LED light.
