Flowers for the bees
Now that summer is in the air, it’s the perfect time to fill our gardens and balconies with colour and life. Not just for ourselves, but for the bees too. They’re a very important part of our ecosystem, since they pollinate plants and crops. And did you know that the bees have favourite flowers? We can give them a helping hand by planting the flowers they love best. I’ve looked some up for you.

Native plants
It’s important to choose native plants. These plants are adapted to thrive in your climate and provide the nutrients local bees need. Which flowers and plants are native to your area depends on where in the world you live. You can find lots of information about this on the internet.
Avoid poison
Don’t use any toxic pesticides in your garden. These are harmful for bees and other useful insects. A garden that’s full of different plants and flowers and hasn’t been treated with pesticides is like a little oasis for bees.
Purple flowers
Did you know that bees really like purple flowers? They can see purple better than other colours. Now I know why my lavender plants always seems so popular. Blue and yellow are good flowers for bees too.
