A handmade card is always special. Whether you want to thank a friend, surprise a dear colleague, or just put a smile on someone’s face, you can create something personal and creative with just a few simple materials.
In this DIY, I’ll show you how to easily design your own thank-you card. You don’t have to draw anything perfectly; it’s the playful, handmade details that make it beautiful.
Dit heb je nodig
- Stevig wit papier of normaal papier
- Gekleurde stiften
- Een zwarte fineliner
Eventueel:
- Washi tape
- Stickers
- Gekleurd papier
- Glitterpen of brush pen
Start with a simple base
First, choose a color scheme. Pastel shades create a soft look, while bright colors look cheerful and playful. Then draw a simple background with stripes, dots, small hearts, or loose lines.
Add an illustration
In the center of the card, you can draw something small, such as:
- flowers
- a bow
- hearts
- a small vase
- stars
- a cup of tea
Keep it simple—small doodles often look best.
Write a personal message
Make the card extra special with a heartfelt message. For example:
- “Thank you for everything”
- “You’re worth your weight in gold”
- “To my dearest friend”
- “Thank you for always being there”
Handwritten text instantly makes your card warmer and more personal.
Finish it off with small details
Use a fineliner to add borders, tiny dots, or playful accents. You can also create layers with washi tape or small pieces of paper for a creative collage look.
