I love creating little creative projects that instantly put a smile on your face. Today I want to share a fun DIY with you: making origami animals! Not only are they easy and relaxing to fold, but they also look incredibly cute.
Plus, there are endless possibilities when it comes to origami. Think of a bird, a butterfly, or an elephant, for example. You can play with colors, patterns, and different types of paper, making each animal completely unique. The beauty of paper folding is that you can create something special using simple materials. Making these cute origami animals is easier than you might think, and the result is absolutely worth the effort. Read on to discover how I made my little paper animal friends!
What do you need?
- Square sheets of paper
- Markers or fineliners
- Glue
The fox
The fox is probably my favorite to fold. With its pointy ears and playful little snout, it looks cheerful right away. I also like to give it a little more character with a sweet little face. I’ve put this fox on my bookshelf, and I’m thinking of making two more.
The Koala and Baby Koala
How cute is a koala with a little baby koala? This design is also fun to make together. I put this one together with Anne. To make them extra cute, we used two shades of pink and added sweet little faces. These koalas not only look great on your desk or bulletin board, but you can also use them as bookmarks.
The Classic Origami Bird
The classic origami bird remains a timeless favorite. You might remember it from your childhood, when a simple square sheet of paper suddenly transformed into a graceful bird. What I love most about this design is its simplicity. With just a few gentle folds, something light and elegant is created.
Rob has also tried his hand at making this bird. He’s so proud of it that he’s showing off his artwork to everyone.
Have fun folding!
Love, Daphne
