Plum cake

Plum cake

Today, I sat in my armchair with a cup of coffee and ate a piece of plum cake. It was delicious.


– 400 g fresh plums
– 125 g sugar
– 125 g self-raising flour
– zest of one lemon
– 1 sachet vanilla sugar
– 2 eggs
– 125 g soft butter
– icing sugar

For the crumble:

– 100 g sugar
– 150 g flour
– pinch of cinnamon
– 100 g soft butter


Preheat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F). Remove the stones from the plums and cut them down the middle. Take a bowl and mix the sugar, self-raising flour, lemon zest, vanilla sugar, eggs and butter to form a smooth dough. Place the dough on the baking sheet and flatten it out.

Chop the plums into pieces and spread these over the baking sheet. Mix the sugar with the flour, cinnamon and butter and make a crumbly mixture. Spread this over the cake. Bake the cake for 50 to 60 minutes in the oven. Finally, dust with icing sugar.
