Stamping with Fruits and Vegetables

The children stamped these pieces of fabric, and I turned them into napkins. Use bright colors and gingham patterns to create a cheerful arts-and-crafts table. The kids are sure to be inspired to play. The idea is for them to have fun on their own, so containers that are easy to clean are ideal. Use cupcake liners, small bowls, and clear take-out containers for cupcakes to store craft supplies and paint. You might want to lay a sheet of clear plastic over your tablecloth. These stamps are easy to make and are a guaranteed hit with kids.

Here’s what you’ll need:
– fruits and vegetables
– fabric
– cookie cutters
– fabric paint or craft paint
– paintbrushes
– plastic wrap to protect the table
– paper towels

Step 1

Start by cutting vegetables, such as potatoes, mushrooms, and lemons, in half. Take a cookie cutter and press it into the potato half. Then, while the cutter is still in the potato, use a knife to cut along the edge to remove the top part, revealing the shape of the stamp.

Step 2

Apply paint to the potato stamp or directly to the other cut fruits and vegetables. First, dab the cut surface on a paper towel to remove excess moisture before applying the paint.

Step 3

Stamp on the fabric. Here, too, the yellow cloth with large checks provides an ideal grid for creating patterns.

Have fun crafting!
Love, Daphne
