Tips for Spring Cleaning
Every year, when spring arrives, I get the urge to clean. Not because I particularly enjoy cleaning, but because the fresh start of the season makes me want a fresh start at home too. They say a tidy house equals a tidy mind, right? With these spring cleaning tips, you’ll have that fresh start in no time!
1. Start with decluttering
Why spend time cleaning things you don’t even want to keep? Start by decluttering first. Get rid of what you no longer need or pass it on to someone else. Throw away broken items or fix them. Put everything back where it belongs. Once your space is tidy, cleaning will be much easier!
2. One room at a time
It’s tempting to tackle everything at once, but working in an organised way is much more effective. Focus on one room at a time. Otherwise, you’ll end up doing a little bit of everything but nothing properly. It’s better to have half your house sparkling clean than all of it half-done. Start with the rooms that matter most to you.
3. Your bedroom
We spend so much time in our bedrooms, yet they often don’t get the attention they deserve when it comes to cleaning. Start by removing anything that doesn’t belong there. Dust all surfaces, vacuum your mattress, the floor, under the bed, and behind the wardrobes. Wipe down lamps, windowsills, and bedside tables with a damp cloth. Change your bedding. And enjoy a good night’s sleep in your fresh, clean room.
4. Cleaning supplies
There’s nothing more frustrating than getting into the cleaning mood only to realise you’ve run out of supplies. No more cleaning spray, no fresh sponges, nothing. And let’s be honest—once you have to go to the store, your motivation is gone. So, before you start, check what you need and make sure you have everything ready.
5. The things you never get around to
If you’re anything like me, there are always cleaning tasks that get skipped during the weekly routine. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to tackle them! Clean your washing machine, descale the kettle, wash the curtains, deep-clean the carpets. You don’t have to do everything, just pick a few tasks and get them done.
