Craving something sweet? I’ve got the perfect recipe for you: a delicious pear crumble cake. So easy to make, and oh, the aroma from the oven is simply heavenly! With juicy pears and a crispy crumble topping, this is a real treat with your tea. And you know what’s the best part? You can whip it up in no time. Read on to find out how.

  • 3 pears
  • 4 eggs
  • 250g butter
  • 250g granulated sugar
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 60g flour
  • 50g butter, diced

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Peel the pears, remove the cores, and cut them into pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar together, then add the eggs one by one. Mix in the self-raising flour, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Then fold in the pear pieces. Transfer the batter to a greased loaf pan.
  3. For the crumble topping, mix the flour, diced butter, and brown sugar until crumbly. Sprinkle this over the batter. Bake the pear crumble cake for about an hour. You can test the cake by inserting a skewer into it; if it comes out clean, the cake is done.

Tip: You can also replace the pears with apples or another type of fruit.

I hope you enjoy this pear crumble cake as much as I do.

Love, Daphne
