Spring always seems to linger just a little longer when there are peonies in the house. Their full petals, soft colors, and romantic charm turn every table into a little still life. But did you know you can capture that same charm in paper?
In this DIY, we’ll walk you through the process of making a dreamy paper peony, step by step. With a few simple materials, a little patience, and a cup of tea within reach, you can create a flower that never wilts. Perfect for giving as a gift, attaching to a present, or simply brightening up a cheerful corner of your home.

Step 1
Turn on the glue gun to let it warm up. Trace the templates from the download page onto a sheet of paper and cut them out. I’ve indicated approximately how many of each you’ll need. We colored the petals with watercolor. Sorry, we forgot to take photos of the painting process.

Step 2
Glue the yellow flower bud to the end of the florist’s wire and let it dry. Attach the stamen fringe and roll it up. Use scissors to curl the petals. A peony can be a bit wild, so vary the curls by curling some inward and others outward.

Step 3
Attach the petals to the bud using the glue gun. Start with the 10 small petals, then the five inner petals, followed by the middle petals. Next, attach the smaller and larger outer petals. Finally, glue the sepals underneath the flower.

Step 4
Once you’ve attached all the petals and the glue has dried, wrap the wire completely in floral tape. As you wrap, try to overlap the tape and stretch it slightly.
You can also make this flower out of watercolor paper. That gives the flower some extra texture. Give it a try!
Have fun crafting!
Love, Daphne
