Create Art with Dried Flowers

Isn’t this just wonderful? Dried flowers in a frame always look beautiful, whether you arrange them in a pattern or not. Making art with dried flowers is easy to do yourself. The key is to use fresh flowers and let them dry properly (for two to three weeks) between two sheets of kitchen paper, pressed under something heavy to keep them nice and flat. In this example, I only used the petals and let them dry for two weeks.

What You Need

  • Flowers or petals
  • Kitchen paper
  • A flat, heavy object for drying (such as a book) or a flower press
  • A photo frame (I chose one with glass on both sides)

How to Make Art with Dried Flowers

  1. Place your flowers or petals between a few layers of kitchen paper and press them under something heavy, like a stack of books. Leave them for two to three weeks until they are completely dry. Tip: Flowers release moisture while drying, so don’t use your favourite books! If you want to be extra careful, you can use a flower press.
  2. Open the frame and arrange the petals in a pattern of your choice. Close the frame once you’re happy with the design.
  3. Hang it up in a lovely spot!

That’s really all there is to it. Looking for more creative inspiration? Click here to check out my other posts.
