Paper flower mail

Sometimes the sweetest gifts are made from paper, markers, and a little imagination. This colorful flower card looks like an envelope full of fresh flowers, but everything is handmade. Perfect as a gift for someone you care about, or just to brighten up your own room.

The combination of soft pink flowers, sunny yellow blossoms, and a big bow makes this craft extra cheerful. And the best part? It’s very easy to make yourself.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Sturdy white paper or watercolor paper
  • Pencil
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Black marker or fineliner pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Craft knife or small hobby knife

Step 1 — Draw the flowers

Start by sketching various flowers, petals, and stems with a pencil. Draw both large and small flowers so you’ll end up with a playful bouquet.

Step 2 — Color the flowers

Once all the flowers are sketched, color them in with cheerful colors like pink, yellow, and green.

Then, carefully go over all the lines with a black marker or a dark color. This really makes the flowers pop and gives them that cozy hand-drawn look.

Step 3 — Cut out the flowers

Now carefully cut out all the flowers. You can leave a small white border around the flowers for an extra fun effect.

Step 4 — Make the envelope

Next, draw a large envelope on sturdy paper and add a pretty bow on the front.

Color in the envelope first, then go over the lines with a black marker or a dark color.

Step 5 — Cut out the envelope

Carefully cut out the envelope.

Do you have a craft knife or a small hobby knife? If so, carefully cut a small slit in the bottom edge of the envelope. You can insert the flowers there later so it looks like they’re really coming out of the envelope.

Step 6 — Put everything together

Insert all the flowers one by one into the opening of the envelope and slide them in until you’ve created a nicely filled bouquet.

If necessary, glue some of the flowers in place so everything stays secure.
