Winter treats for birds!

Aren’t they lovely? Anne and I made these ice creams for the birds in our garden, full of healthy seeds to help them get through the cold days. Feast on them!

Birds need our help to get through the winter. After all, it takes them a lot of energy to keep their body temperature at 40 degrees. These winter ice creams are easy to make.

First, heat a block of clean, unsalted frying fat in a pan and then add the bird seed. The ratio is about one part seeds to one part fat. Pour the mixture into ice cream molds and insert a stick. When the mixture hardens well, carefully remove it from the mold. The winter ice cream is now ready to be hung!
